Is Your Company Responsible For An Upvc Replacement Door Handles Budget? 12 Ways To Spend Your Money

UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors get worn out with time and require to be replaced. In this case, it is important that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

The three measurements to check are the top screw's position, lever and key hole dimensions. Use the size guide to assist you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a contemporary door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are suitable for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same spindle and screws to secure them. They can be easily installed on any uPVC/Composite doors.

The spring lever design allows the handle to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is situated further back in the door. A shortened lever is also a good choice for doors where the latch can be opened by a thumb turn inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles found on most doors. These handles can operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are generally employed on UPVC double-glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and styles.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle the best performance and long-lasting durability for its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs are supplied with the spindle and screws that allow them to be fitted on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is usually beneficial when replacing an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have a spring, which solves the issue of door handles that move out of horizontal position when not in use.

When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also known as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the right handles.

Once you have decided on the proper PZ size, you will need to make sure that the lever and push pads are shaped to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They are typically round or square with an internal lever and an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads we offer are sprung, which means that they return to their horizontal position when they are not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from getting into a house. Also, the majority of the UPVC lever pad handles are handed, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder case which will reveal pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock body, allowing them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors generally requiring different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is essential. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. External doors, for instance should be equipped with higher security cylinders, whereas internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features which can enhance security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to each end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however, in the event that this is not possible, you may take it off to measure. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, so it is important to make sure it's not too long.

The design of most newer cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This helps stop the attack and protect your doors.

There are cylinders that are made to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and easier to achieve than opening multipoint locks. It also leaves little evidence of a break-in, which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned within the base of the door handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. In the past, a lot of handles did not have a spring built into them, and without it they are more likely to slide or  drop when the locking mechanism is removed. This simple part is the best way to solve this issue. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position since they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially made for use with sprung multipoint locks but they won't work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you must have a custom hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC  door handles . They feature a square cut-out that accommodates an 8mm spindle and they are supplied individually.

These spring cassettes are an excellent cost-effective solution to the issue of your door handles that are sagging. They are simple to install and will increase the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
